The 5 Days Grumeti River Predator Safari is one of the most exciting Tanzania safaris. It takes you through the beautiful plains of Serengeti National Park and ends at the amazing Ngorongoro Crater. The highlight of this safari is the Grumeti River area, where travelers witness lions, crocodiles, and other predators in action during the Great Migration season.
This safari is ideal for travelers who love wildlife photography and adventure but still want comfortable mid-range tented lodges. Every day is filled with breathtaking moments from the endless Serengeti plains to the wildlife-filled Ngorongoro Crater.
Your safari begins after breakfast in Arusha. You will drive or fly to the Central Serengeti, one of Africa’s most famous wildlife areas. The plains are home to many lions, cheetahs, and large herds of buffalo and zebra. After a scenic drive and picnic lunch, enjoy an afternoon game drive before heading to your accommodation at Friends Tented Camp or Embalakai Camp for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, continue your journey toward the western corridor of Serengeti, following the route of the Great Migration. Along the way, you may see giraffes, wildebeests, and topi grazing on the open plains. The western Serengeti is well known for large crocodiles and big lion prides near the Grumeti River. Dinner and overnight at Grumeti Hills Tented Lodge.
Today is dedicated to exploring the Grumeti River ecosystem, one of the best places in Africa to see predator activity. You’ll witness crocodiles waiting for wildebeests to cross, lions stalking their prey, and hippos resting along the riverbanks. Enjoy your picnic lunch near the river, and return to your lodge in the evening for relaxation and dinner at Grumeti Hills Tented Lodge.
After breakfast, depart for Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Arrive in the afternoon and descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, where wildlife viewing is incredible. You may see black rhinos, elephants, buffaloes, and flamingos. After the game drive, head to your accommodation at Rhino Lodge Ngorongoro for dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, enjoy the beautiful views of the crater rim, then drive back to Arusha. On the way, you may stop at local markets or Cultural Heritage Center for Tanzanite and souvenirs. Your safari ends upon arrival in Arusha.
The best time to experience the Grumeti River Wildlife Safari is between May and July, when the Great Migration crosses this region. However, the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater offer amazing wildlife experiences throughout the year.
